State medical boards make records of doctors’ licence status and public discipline available to read.
First, request the doctor’s full name and ask which state they will be treating you in. Ask separately for the pharmacy’s name.
For the doctor, use the state board
For a doctor’s licensing board, consult the state-board directory; its publisher is the Federation of State Medical Boards.
A state may use different boards to oversee different types of doctor.
Ask the doctor which board issued their licence. Use the directory to reach that board, then match the full name and licence details.
A record with no public discipline cannot show you the quality of care.
For the pharmacy, use its own board
For state pharmacy-board search links, visit the online-pharmacy licence page run by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Use the pharmacy name you were given. If you cannot match it to a record, ask for the exact name and licence details before going further.
